Questions
How are Solana fees worked out?
Every signature costs 5,000 lamports (0.000005 SOL). A transaction can add a priority fee to be included sooner when the network is busy. These levels come from what the successful, non-vote transactions in the latest finalised block actually paid, so they reflect today’s demand rather than a guess.
Why is the priority fee often zero?
When blocks are not full, transactions land without one, and many wallets add only a small fee. The urgent level shows what the busiest traffic pays, typically trading bots competing for the same pools.
What is the token account rent?
Tokens on Solana live in a separate account per holder and token. Sending a token to someone who has never held it opens that account, which needs a minimum balance. It is returned if the account is closed later.
